Seventh-day Adventist College of Education, Agona-Ashanti, is a renowned Public Adventist Tertiary Teacher Education institution affiliated to the University of Cape Coast as part of the teacher education reform. The College has over the years distinguished itself as an institution that provides a comprehensive training for holistic development of students who would be morally upright, competent, committed and dedicated to professional work ethics. The College offers quality academic programmes in Junior High School Education and Primary Education. The College remains well-positioned to strengthen its role as a teacher education institution contributing significantly to Ghana’s educational transformation and national development aspirations.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the following senior management position:

1. THE COLLEGE PRINCIPAL POSITION

The key responsibilities of the College Principal shall include:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the College.
  • Oversee the academic, administrative, and financial operations of the College.
  • Lead and support the development and implementation of quality teaching and learning programmes.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including staff, students, alumni, and the wider community.
  • Demonstrate a high sense of diligence, strong leadership qualities, sound organisational skills, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
  • Mobilise and attract grants, partnerships, and funding to support research, innovation, and institutional development activities.
  • Uphold and promote the College’s reputation, values, and standards of excellence in education.

Qualifications and Experience

The candidate must:

  • Hold a rank not below that of Associate Professor in a College of Education, University, or Analogous Institution.
  • Be a distinguished scholar and a master teacher.
  • Possess a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant area of specialisation.
  • Have at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in teaching and/or research, including a minimum of five (5) years in a senior management or leadership position.
  • Demonstrate proven leadership and managerial capabilities and possess the ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Inspire confidence and provide effective leadership, direction, and motivation to staff and other stakeholders.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to manage and resolve crises effectively.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, fairness, and impartiality in decision-making.
  • Have proven ability to lead teams and manage institutional resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the higher education landscape and Ghana's educational policies, priorities, and development goals.

Terms of Appointment

  • Must not be more than 55 years at the time of application.
  • Salaries and conditions of service are attractive and comparable to similar positions in Ghana.
  • The appointment shall be for an initial period of four (4) years and may be renewed for one additional term only, subject to satisfactory performance and applicable governing regulations.
